Symbols

Symbols are essential to poetry. The purpose of symbols is to represent a more important meaning in the poem from the authors. For example in Ozymandias, the rusty statue symbolized former great power and because of history all the power has been removed. Symbols is what allows for a deeper meaning in poems and usually because of them a reader should read a poem several times in order to grasp the full meaning.

Setting

The setting sets the tone for any type of work is heavily affects how characters react. For example in some versions of the film Hamlet, the setting is very dark and establishes Hamlet is having a a very hard time and wants blood thirsty revenge. While on the other hand another version's setting is very light and makes Hamlet appear more insane and allows the viewers to see and visualize him repelling from sanity.

The setting in Pride and Prejudice is accurate to the time on how it actually was during that time in England. Jane Austin successfully uses setting as the perfect time frame to poke fun at how a women's main goal was to marry someone wealthy. Jane Austin uses Mrs. Bennett to exaggerate the women of that time frame very comedically by having her trying to get all her daughters married. Also the time setting in Pride and Prejudice express how the upper class looked down upon the lower class of that time.

Characters Blog #2

The characters created by Jane Austin and Shakespeare in Pride and Prejudice and Hamlet took the two works to another level of greatness on top of having a good plot. In Pride Prejudice, Jane Austin creates a scenario where the characters gossip about one another for the readers to make pre judgements on that character. What Shakespeare does to create an interesting character in Hamlet is he made him very indecisive and appear crazy enough for the reader to judge or viewer.
Both authors create great supporting role characters such as Mrs. Bennett, Mr. Collins, and Polonious. All of these characters successfully annoy the reader in their exaggerated presense and provides and sprinkle of comedic genius in the two works.

Blog 1

Plot is the making to any form literature, plot is the point to why the author is writing. Both in Pride and Prejudice and Hamlet both possess well structured plot. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen illustrates the plot as Elizabeth realizing her faults in her own misjudgments on people and falling in love with Darcy. Not until late after the play was over Elizabeth realizes in the letter from Darcy that she has completely judged him wrongly. On the other hand in Hamlet, the burden of the death of his father and quickly married mother becomes to much of a burden for Hamlet. The burden on Hamlet drove him towards the path of insanity, and someone seeking a blood thirsty revenge.

Intro

Time is an unstoppable force that defines human life, the idea of time and death are one of the most feared subjects known to man. Ozymadious and to an athlete dying young revolve around these two themes. However both focus on the idea of Time and Death, but both possess different conclusions on the themes. Ozmandias and to an Athlete dying young are both poems that focus on time and death, while Shelly illastrates how destructive time is, AE Houseman Surprisedly sees time (and death) as almost a gift to someone.

O VS P

In the Poem's Ozymandias and Ponder both talk similarly about time being the protagonist.  In Ozymandias time is the destoryer of the the statue which symbolizes the past.  Over time the statue has become in worse and worse structure.  Similarly to Ozymandias Time in Ponder is the the factor of the destruction of aqueducts.  Both poems deal with the difficulty of history to remain and how over time someone's great work gets diminished by time.

My scene was where Hamlet pretends or is actually serious when he encounters Poloniosus. My
Preformance choice is to make myself appear insane to polonoius because o actually am anyways.
