The love song

I chose the line "No! I am nit Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be" I like this line because not only is the author being modest he is being real with him self showing his self conscious. Although he is being a little to self conscious a reader has to respect that he has a more realistic view on the world rather than a fake idealistic view of the world. Also he kicks off the stanza with the line contiously lowering him self down line by line. The suhtor clearly implies how self conscious in life diminishing his chances of a positive view on the world.

  1. I agree. The speaker does come off as a little self-conscience and insecure especially with a quote like this one where he is as modest as you say that is reoccurring throughout the entire poem. I love your idea about the speaker being realistic instead of idealistic. Maybe he does have some pessimistic outlook on the world and has become insecure that way. Who knows? But great job David.

  2. I agree with your analysis of self-conscience and insecurity from the quote you chose; however, i feel that the quote represents a realization of self pity and the acceptance of it. This also incorporates into the non idealistic values you emphasize Prufrock has.

  3. Good analysis. Prufrock is undoubtedly insecure and self-conscious. However, like Laurence said, I believe the quote further analyzes the self-pitying worry that leads Prufrock to believe his life is worthless. Nevertheless, good analysis Daveed. Well done!
